Physics based 3D platformer Movement

Leveraging UEs physics paradigm of Custom movement modes, gameplay tags to achieve physics based 3D platforming

The motivation came from playing 3D platformers like 'Jak & Daxter', 'Crash Bandicoot', and more recently 'A Hat In Time'.

'A Hat in Time's movement is very fun, and feels almost akin to something like mario odessey in that the simple act of moving around in the air / level feels fun.

The primary features that I likes were

  • physics based jump

    • variable height

    • separate ascent/descent gravity scales

  • multi-jumps midair

  • air dash which resets partial jumps

  • automatic impulse driven ledge ups
